Local Governments
Local Government Policy Toolkit
This Local Government Policy Toolkit is a companion to the biodiversity atlas, and together they are intended to help planners and land-use managers:
- consider and understand how to use information derived from the atlas mapped layers; and
- holistically integrate the values of carbon sequestration, biodiversity, watershed integrity, and habitat connectivity into their land use planning processes, policy, and decision-making to yield nature-based solutions to climate mitigation and adaptation.
Existing Legislation and Policy Levers highlights relevant legislation and policy options at the federal, provincial and local government level that local governments can leverage.
Developing Policy for Land Use Planning highlights policy language and examples that local governments can use in their legislation, strategies and plans.
