The Green Bylaws Toolkit provides local governments and the public with practical tools for protecting green infrastructure. It includes bylaw language to protect ecosystem health and explains the various legal approaches to protection.

This document has been prepared for use by local governments, the development community, landowners and environmental organizations as a guide to maintaining environmental values during the development.

The Roadmap illustrates how Metro Vancouver will protect, restore, and enhance ecosystems, and connect them together across the region through a robust green infrastructure network, to support productive and resilient ecosystems that help address climate change

In 2019, the First Nations-in-Assembly declared a First Nations Climate Emergency recognizing that "climate change constitutes a state of emergency for our lands, waters, animals, and peoples.” This led to the development of a First Nations-led climate strategy.
